a. Ph.D.(1977, Gujrat University): Awarded the Ph.D. degree in Physics for the
Thesis entitled “Purametric Interaction of Waves in a Magnetised Plasma”. The research was carried out in the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad under the supervision of Prof. Abhijit Sen.

b. D. Sc. (1990, Gauhati University): Awarded the D.Sc. degree by the Gauhati University in February 1991 on the Thesis entitled “ Theory of Kinetic Solutions and Double Layers”.

Professional Experiences:

a. German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellow in Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany.

Visiting Professorship:

a. Invited to University of Bayreuth, Germany

b. Invited to Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan

Award/Distinctions:

a. Awarded the prestigious “Shri Hari Om Ashram Prerit Dr. Vikram Sarabhai National Award” for outstanding contribution in the field of space science

b. First scholar to get the D.Sc. Degree from Gauhati University.

c. Awarded “Kamal Kumari National Award” for 1993 for outstanding contribution in Science & Technology.

Services to important organizations:

a. Served the Gauhati University as a member of the Executive Council during 1991-1994.

b. Served the University Grant Commission as a member of the Physics Panel with Prof. J.V. Narliker as Chairman, during 1992-1995.

Research Publications:

He has 90 research papers published in standard international journals besides presenting numerous research papers in National and International conferences.

Administrative Experiences:

As founder Director of Centre of Plasma Physics, a Research Institute established by Govt. of Assam, he had been the Administrative and Academic Head of the Institute since its inception i.e. 1991. Starting from scratch, he had developed necessary infrastructure of the institute in terms of manpower, laboratory equipment, journals, buildings etc. for conducting high level research work in plasma science and technology which has become a centre of Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, an autonomous institute under DAE, Govt. of India. .
