Description of expertise

System development is a primary expertise; as a research-scholar had setup the first high-vacuum plasma physics laboratory at CPP, Dispur (1994-2000), developed a thermal plasma related laboratory with a BRNS project after joining CPP as a Scientist (2000-07), established CPP-IPR High Flux Device (2007-2012), and CIMPLE-PSI (2013-2018) for plasma surface interaction (PSI) studies, developed a simple reactor for bulk production of metal-oxide nanomaterials and their one-step defect engineering that exhibit excellent functionalities. Plasma synthesis of high temperature nanomaterials with fine size control and bulk production rate, is his another field of expertise. Had successfully demonstrated first synthesis of superparamagnetic carbon encapsulated magnetic nanoparticles for targeted drugs delivery application. He is an expert on plasma surface interaction relevant for controlled plasma fusion research, with experience of working with plasma facing materials like tungsten and RAFM steel. Used extensively different advanced materials characterization techniques (XRD, Raman, SEM, TEM, EDX, XPS, VSM, BET, TGA, NRA, RBS and GISAXS) and plasma diagnostics like optical emission spectroscopy, Langmuir probes and calorimeters. He has 18 months teaching experience in M.Sc. classes (plasma physics, electrodynamics, and nanomaterials), at Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh (2009-10). Introduced two new full credit papers in the M.Sc. (Physics) syllabus, Department of Physics, DU, Dibrugarh, in Plasma Physics and Nanomaterials. Set the syllabus for a plasma physics paper in M.Sc. classes for ADBU. With Power Beam Society of India, organized Dibrugarh University Plasma School, the first of its kind in entire north-east India, combining short plasma physics training in both experiments and theory (October, 2009). Organized as convener, CPP-IPR Workshop on Linear Tokamak Divertor Simulators for PSI Studies (November, 2014) and CPP-IPR Silver Jubilee Symposium (April, 2016).
